Islam: a religion of peace and justice

The Holy Quran

* The Qur'an is a Message from Allah to humanity. It was transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Almighty Himself (Subhanaho Wataala) to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. This message was given to the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) in pieces over a period spanning approximately 23 years. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages. Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was the final Messenger of Allah to humanity, and therefore the Qur'an is the last Message which Allah has sent to us. Its predecessors such as the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel have all been superseded. It is an obligation - and blessing - for all who hear of the Qur'an and Islam to investigate it and evaluate it for them. Allah has guaranteed that He will protect the Qur'an from human tampering, and today's readers can find exact copies of it all over the world. The Qur'an of today is the same as the Qur'an revealed to Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

"Alif Laam Raa. A book which we have revealed to you (Muhammad) so that you may lead the people from out of the darknesses into the light by their Lord's leave to the path of the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy." [Qur'an 14:1]

The Qur'an is one of two which form the basis of Islam. The second is the Sunnah of the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). What makes the Qur'an different from the Sunnah is primarily its form. Unlike the Sunnah, the Qur'an is quite literally the Word of Allah, whereas the Sunnah was inspired by Allah but the wording and actions are the Prophet's. The Qur'an has not been expressed using any human's words. Its wording is letter for letter fixed by no one but Allah.

Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was the final Messenger of Allah to humanity, and therefore the Qur'an is the last Message which Allah has sent to us. Its predecessors such as the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel have all been superceded. -How to understand the Qur'an

.Introduction to Reading the Qur’an

The Qur’an was revealed from God piecemeal to meet the needs and requirements of the Islamic Movement in its different stages.  It is a divine guidance to humanity so that we can successfully reach our destiny - the Hereafter. Because of its divine origin, the Qur’an in its original Arabic language does not have human authors.

The Qur’an is unique in its composition and style. The Qur’an does not conform to the normal conception of a book.  It is a book that is not like any book ever written.  The chapters of the Qur’an consist of verses that deal with a mixture of subjects and miscellaneous topics.  It is for this reason that the title or name of a chapter would not reveal the total information and contents in that chapter.  The information contained in a chapter of the Qur’an is woven together and laid down in a mosaic form that might give the feeling of lack of continuity and order.  Interconnection between the verses and the continuity of the subject might not be apparent or existing. Varied information within the same verse can also be found.  It is reasonable to think of a chapter of the Qur’an as a beautiful flower bouquet, each of its flowers has its unique color and smell.

Thus, for one to understand the Qur’an, one should first free the mind from the preconceived notion of a “regular” book, and then concentrate on grasping the meaning of each individual verse in the chapter.  Verses that have obvious and clear connection should be studied together.  After one reads a chapter more than once, one is able to comprehend all the important lessons in that chapter.  It is important that, for deeper and more understanding of the Qur’an, the reader should visit any index, commentary, or notes, if available in the translation.

It is difficult to understand the complete meaning and grasp all the wisdom of the Qur’an after one reading.  As a matter of fact, one needs to read the Qur’an over and over again with complete concentration and meditation before one can fully discover its hidden treasures.  Because you gain new meanings and perception each time you read the Qur’an, you might feel as if you never read such verses before. Amazingly, these realities, about re-reading the Qur’an often, hold true for all people regardless of their level of education.  Fortunately, God rewards us generously for reading each and every letter of this great divine book.

important

Islam is the religion of Allah. Applying other laws is unacceptable and in some incidents, it would nullify Islam. Allah created humans and knows what is best for them. Man-made laws are not consistent as they change in accordance to people’s whims and desires. 50 years ago, homosexuality was a felony punishable by death in all countries of the world. Now, we see it marketed not only in the media but also in primary schools in the so called civilized world! Mark my word; in coming years, you will find people legislating the permissibility of marrying your own mother and sister. Incest would soon become normal. It wouldn’t be long before you hear perverts calling for the permissibly of pedophilia. People are worse than animals when left to follow their desires. Who determines what is right and what is wrong? It is not the moral compass as this changes y time. It is Allah the almighty who created us and knows what is best for us.

How It All Began:

*Nearly four thousand years ago, in the Sumerian town of Ur in the valley of the river Euphrates, lived a young man named Abraham. The people of Ur had once worshipped Allah but as time passed they forgot the true religion and started praying to idols, statues made of wood or clay and sometimes even of precious stones. Even as a small child Abraham could not understand how his people, and especially his father, could make these images with their own hands, call them gods, and then worship them. He had always refused to join his people when they paid respect to these statues. He would leave town to sit alone and think about heavens and the worlds around him.. He was sure his people were doing wrong and so alone he searched for the right way. One clear night as he sat staring at the sky he saw a beautiful shining star, so beautiful that he cried out: 'This must be Allah!' He looked at it in awe for some time, until suddenly it began to fade and then it disappeared. He turned away in disappointment saying: I love not things that set. (Koran vi.77)

What Others Say About Him
During Crusade Era, many lies were concocted by the missionary and western writers to discredit the Prophet of Islam, his message and his teachings. This continued until recently when scientific discoveries and freedom of thought changed many people’s perception of things, and it became increasingly difficult for falsehood-mongers to pull wool over peoples’ eyes. The following are some testimonies that some non-Muslim scholars, thinkers and political icons had to give about the Prophet of Islaam.
Larmatine, the French scholar says:
"If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not only armies, legislati

ons, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the then inhabited world; and more than

that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls. . . his forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; his endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death; all these attest not to an imposture but to a firm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. This dogma was twofold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God; the former telling what God is, the latter telling what God is not; the one overthrowing false gods with the sword, the other starting an idea with words.” "Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire; that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?" (Lamartine, Histoire De La Turquie, Paris, 1854, Vol. II, pp. 276-277)
